Professor ​"dIESEL"    Daniel Fundora

​Daniel Fundora is a born and raised Floridian. He started practicing martial arts at a young age and began his jiu jitsu journey in 2011 when he stepped into Carlson Gracie Miami where he earned the nickname of "Diesel". Danny didn't consider Jiu Jitsu as just a hobby, but a way of life, a passion. As he belted up in rank, he started teaching and always was an avid competitor.

Danny has travel the world competing at all belt levels, earning several titles and even becoming a World Champion in 2017. Danny received his black belt December 2018 under Professor Michel Porfirio Pereira at Carlson Gracie Miami. Upon earning his black belt he made the decision of creating Arise Martial Arts. Professor wanted to share his knowledge and opened the school in the South Miami area.  

Still being an active competitor, Professor Diesel travels frequently to compete with his students or simply coach as much as possible. Presently, he is a IBJJF Certified 1st Degree Black Belt, CPR Certified and Arise Martial Arts is an IBJJF Certified School. 

Professor Danny has wore several hats throughout his life. He is a husband, a father to two girls and retired from the Department of Homeland Security.

​Professor Danny's teaching style is straight forward and goal oriented. His disciplined style gives structure to both our kids and adults programs.​ His passion for teaching shows in the students attentiveness and respect the student hold for him. Professor believes that kids especially need a good role model in their life, and he strive to be that and more for his students, as each and every one of our member are a reflection of him.

​Professor spends the majority of the days in the week at the dojo, but during his off time he enjoys spending time with his family, boating, fishing and doing outdoor activities.

professor Michelle fundora​

Michelle is a Miami, FL native, born and raised. In July 2022 she retired from her career as a full time Law Enforcement Officer (10 yrs of service) to dedicate herself fully to their family business (Arise Jiu Jitsu). She is the manager, Head Professor of the Little Kids Program and also the kids, teens, adults and competitive team.

Professor Michelle holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since June 2023 under Professor Daniel "Diesel" Fundora. She is CPR certified and passionate about fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. With her vast knowledge in criminal justice, her and Professor Diesel collaborate on self-defense that is efficient and effective for the community which we live.

"I'm extremely passionate about teaching, especially with our kids". During her time in law enforcement, Michelle had the opportunity to be a school resource officer. "Seeing what our youth is presently troubled by, and what they may be missing in the classroom, really assists the Professor Danny and I in outlining our curriculum. We aren't only teaching jiu jitsu here, we are giving our youth the tools they need to be successful, dignified members of society. Qualities that may be lacking in this modern age, the "old school principles."

"I believe everyone should learn Jiu Jitsu, and especially our first responders and military. It helped me during my law enforcement career, and I want to share that knowledge so everyone can make it home safe to their families. Just come in the dojo and train. We have students from several different departments Miami Dade, Coral Gables, City of Miami, Homeland Security, Customs & Border Patrol, Hialeah, Miccosukee, Military Police, it's amazing the impact we've had in such a little time."

Pagan was born and raised in Miami; FL. Professor Pagan is Law Enforcement Veteran of serving over 20 years. He's a Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Gracie Combatives Certified Instructor, prior member of the SWAT Team and is an active member of Law Enforcement Tactics Training, self-defense and firearms training. 

Pagan began his jiu jitsu journey in 2010 where he was part owner of Miami, Fl's original Carlson Gracie Miami Academy. After handing over ownership he continued training there, subsequently earning his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt from Professor Michel Porfirio Pereira.

Luis Deluqui​ "Chico"

Chico was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He came to Miami, Florida at the age of 18 years old. Chico is a certified personal trainer, and private kick boxing coach. 

​Coach Chico is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since January 2024 under Professor Daniel "Diesel" Fundora. He is also a Certified Personal Trainer. Chico is a Coach for the Little Kids, Kids, Teens and Competition Programs. He is passionate about teaching and spreading the wealth of Brazilian jiu jitsu amongst his teammates and kids. 

On his spare time Chico enjoys playing guitar, singing, living a healthy lifestyle and spending time with family.
